Meet the Healing Spaces Team: Ta'Nia Jordan- Your Guide to Holistic Wellness

Today, we shine a spotlight on Ta'Nia, a passionate mental health counselor committed to holistic well-being and empowerment. Originating from the vibrant streets of the Chicago area, Ta'Nia's journey led her through Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and eventually across the bridge to St. Louis in pursuit of her aspirations.


Driven by Passion

My path to becoming a mental health counselor was ignited by my deep-rooted belief in holistic wellness. As an athlete with experiences in track and boxing, I've always understood the profound connection between physical and mental health. My studies in public health and communications further fortified this belief, aligning my desire to use my voice and interpersonal skills with my goal of aiding individuals in achieving overall wellness.


Professional Path and Therapeutic Style

I obtained my master's degree in counseling from Lindenwood University, specializing in human sexuality and health communications during my undergraduate studies. My counseling approach leans heavily on Narrative and Existential methods, creating a warm and client-centered space for self-discovery and personal growth.


Life Beyond Counseling

Outside my counseling realm, I revel in creative expressions such as painting, sculpting, and nurturing my garden (I have over 40 plants)! Balancing rest and play is key in my everyday routine.


Future Aspirations and Guidance

In the coming years, I'm keen on specializing in sex therapy and relationship counseling, especially supporting individuals in queer and non-monogamous relationships. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to academia by teaching mental health counseling at the collegiate level.


Advice for Clients

Respect Your Unique Journey: Therapy is a personal journey, and it unfolds at its own pace. Patience is crucial as there's no rush to find immediate solutions or measure your progress against others. Your therapeutic process is uniquely yours, so embrace it as such.


Embrace Change and Self-Compassion: Therapy can challenge your comfort zone, but it's where personal growth occurs. Be open to change and new perspectives, and remember to treat yourself with self-compassion. Acknowledge that setbacks or difficult moments are part of the journey, and be kind to yourself as you navigate the therapeutic process.

The journey to Healing Spaces was motivated by my quest for an environment that values inclusivity and supports diverse communities. Here, I found a place where I could make a meaningful impact on a wide range of clients while feeling appreciated and acknowledged in my career.

My ideal client is someone who is embarking on a journey of self-discovery, navigating significant life changes, and striving to solidify their identity as they make sense of the world. One is who looking for guidance and support in processing anxiety, depression, understanding and managing their emotions, and addressing past traumas. I also want to work with Queer and non-monogamous folks seeking support in diverse relationship styles.
