Child & Teen Therapy in St. Louis, MO

Your child does not have to figure it out alone, and neither do you.

At Healing Spaces in Clayton, St. Louis, we provide a safe, affirming, and culturally responsive space where children and teenagers can explore what they are feeling, build the tools they need, and grow into themselves with confidence. Our therapists specialize in working with young people of all backgrounds, particularly children and teens from Black and Brown communities, LGBTQIA+ youth, and neurodivergent kids who deserve care that truly sees them.

Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, school stress, behavioral concerns, or identity, or whether you simply sense that something is off and want to get ahead of it, we are here to help.

Why choose therapy for your child?

Asking for help for your child is one of the most loving things you can do as a parent. Children and teenagers carry more than we often realize: the pressure of school, social dynamics, family changes, trauma, and a world that moves faster than they are equipped to process.

Therapy gives them a dedicated space to slow down, feel heard, and develop the emotional tools that will serve them for life.

At Healing Spaces in St. Louis, our child and teen therapists use age-appropriate, evidence-based approaches tailored to each young person's unique needs and personality.

We do not believe in forcing kids into a mold; we meet them where they are and build from there.

Therapy for Children

Therapy is a powerful resource for children, teens, and families seeking support for mental health and emotional well-being. At Healing Spaces Psychological Services, our child and adolescent therapists in St. Louis help young people navigate a range of challenges, including:

  • Emotional Difficulties & Regulation: Many children struggle to express their feelings in ways parents can understand. Our therapy sessions help kids identify and manage their emotions, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills.

  • Behavioral Management: If your child is experiencing behavioral issues, our therapists work to uncover the root causes and provide effective strategies for parents and caregivers to support positive change.

  • Family Conflict: Therapy offers a safe space for children and families to address conflict, improve communication, and strengthen family relationships.

  • Learning Difficulties: Academic or learning challenges can impact your child’s self-esteem and confidence. Our therapists offer support and strategies to boost academic performance and foster a positive self-image.

  • Trauma & Abuse: Our compassionate team provides trauma-informed care to help children process experiences of trauma, neglect, or abuse in a safe and supportive environment.

  • Racial or Cultural Stress: Children navigating racism, microaggressions, or the challenges of holding multiple cultural identities deserve a therapist who understands their experience. Our team provides culturally affirming care that honors your child's full identity.

Therapy for Pre-Teens and Teenagers

The teenage years are some of the most intense of a person's life. Your teen is figuring out who they are, where they belong, and how to navigate a world that can feel overwhelming, all at the same time. Social media, academic pressure, family dynamics, identity, and the weight of current events all pile on in ways that were not part of growing up a generation ago.

Therapy gives teenagers a rare and valuable thing: a space that is entirely theirs. No parents. No grades. No judgment. Just an opportunity to be honest about what they are experiencing and to build the skills to handle it.

Our teen therapists in St. Louis are skilled at connecting with young people who may be resistant to therapy or skeptical that it can help. We meet teens where they are, with humor, honesty, and genuine care, and we help them find their footing.
